for a little context on my situation- i have degenerative disc disease at L4-L5. the weird thing is the rest of my spine is apparently "perfect" according to the doctors i've seen but my disc basically burst back in 2018. ever since then its been a mess of stiffness, soreness, and just really sharp pain. my strength and mobility have been totally trashed and it’s honestly just sucked the quality of life right out of me.
i tried PT and doing all the right exercises but it just wasnt enough to handle the pain so my spine surgeon finally suggested a steroid injection. i actually got the shot a week ago and man... i am so happy to say like 99% of my pain is just gone. i started feeling better literally the next morning when i woke up and it was honestly the first time i didn’t wake up in pain in years.
i’ve read all kinds of stories about how long this actually lasts so i’m just crossing my fingers that it stays like this for a long time. if the pain comes back then i guess the next step is radiofrequency ablation.
anyway i know these shots dont work for everyone but i figured i’d post this to let people know there is a chance it can help. i cant even explain the mental relief of the last seven days just knowing that it's possible to feel normal again even if its not a permanent fix. hope this helps someone!
