Hey everyone, I have a few questions about something that came up today.

I was chatting with this guy at my gym—hes 19 and clearly thinks he has it all figured out—and he gave me some "advice" that sounded a bit off.

Basically, he told me that once you’re training naturally, you’ll eventually hit a point where you stop getting bigger, but you’ll start developing "muscle maturity." According to him, this is how you keep progressing after you hit your peak size. He claims that if you take two people with the exact same body fat, height, genetics, and arm size, the guy who has been training longer will look way more striated and dense. He says the muscles just look "better" and leaner even if the measurements are identical.

Does this actually hold any weight? I asked him how he knew this and he couldn't really give me a straight answer, he just tried to pull up some AI summary on Google about muscle density increasing over time to back himself up.

I’d love to get your thoughts on this. I know I’m still young and have plenty to learn, but I’m trying not to be naive here. I don't just take everything people say at face value, even if it comes from Google. Thanks!

lol man don't listen to the 19 year old "experts" at the gym. muscle maturity is definitely a thing but it usually just comes down to years of heavy lifting thickening the connective tissue and having a lower set point for body fat. but yeah the google ai stuff is usually total trash stay skeptical brother.

honestly he’s not totally wrong but he’s explaining it like a moron. if you look at a guy who’s been training 10 years vs 2 years at the same weight the older guy always looks harder. it’s not some magic science thing it’s just thousands of hours of tension and better mind-muscle connection making things pop more.

haha the classic gym bro science! kid probably watched one youtube video and thinks he's a doctor now. "density" is kinda a buzzword but you definitely get a more "grainy" look as you get older and keep your diet on point for years. just keep lifting heavy and don't overthink the weird terms too much.

i used to think this was total bs too until i saw some older natural guys who weren't huge but looked like they were carved out of granite. it takes forever to get that look though so don't expect it to happen overnight. ignore the kid and just stick to your program man he's just trying to sound smart.

definitely drop that first training entry if you want! about the maturity thing - it's mostly just about having better muscle control and thinner skin from years of being consistent. measurements dont tell the whole story for sure but tell that kid to stop trusting google ai for his fitness tips lol.

man i love when the teenagers start preaching lol. muscle maturity is real but it’s literally just the result of not quitting for a decade. you cant really "measure" it but a vet always looks different than a newbie even at the same weight. just focus on your own progress and let the kid enjoy his google searches.
