Growing up, I was always told that "drugs are bad," no questions asked. But lately, I’ve realized that a lot of the stigma around things like weed is pretty much just overblown or totally unwarranted.
That got me wondering if everything I’ve been told about steroids and HGH is wrong too. To be honest, I don't know anything about them other than "they’re bad for you." Do most people who are serious about bodybuilding actually use this stuff to get results?
I’m genuinely asking because I have no idea what the reality is. What are the actual pros and cons, and how risky is it really? I'd love to hear some honest thoughts from anyone who knows the scene.
honestly it’s way more common than people think, especially at higher levels. but that doesn’t mean it’s harmless or “required”
I had the same realization about weed lol. but steroids/HGH are a whole different ballgame with real long term tradeoffs
most serious lifters know the risks, they just decide the reward is worth it for them. doesn’t mean it’s smart for everyone
I appreciate you actually asking instead of just assuming it’s all evil or all fine. reality is kinda messy in the middle
tbh if you’re just lifting for health or looks, you really don’t need any of that stuff. once you start chasing extremes, that’s when it comes into play
i had the same mindset growing up honestly - once you actually look into it, it’s way more nuanced than “all bad
a lot of serious bodybuilders do use stuff, yeah, but there’s also plenty who don’t - depends on goals and risk tolerance
pros are obvious faster gains recovery etc, cons are real too if you’re reckless or uninformed
