I used to be on Spironolactone to deal with hormonal cystic acne and it worked great. It cleared everything up after a few months and I've actually been off it for about a year now.
Fast forward to now- I'm currently 8 weeks into an Anavar cycle and my skin is absolutely losing it. The acne is back and honestly it's worse than it's ever been.
Has anyone here actually run Spiro while on Var or any other AAS? I'm a little worried since I know Spironolactone is an anti-androgen. I really don't want to end up "canceling out" the effects of the Anavar, but I’ve also read some stuff suggesting it might not interfere with the muscle building side of things. Just wondering if anyone has first-hand experience balancing the two.
i totally feel you on the acne struggle - var can be so brutal on the skin. i haven't done that exact combo but i've seen girls on other forums say spiro didn't ruin their gains at all. it mostly just blocks the receptors in your skin and hair follicles rather than nuking the muscle building part. maybe start on a lower dose of spiro first just to see?
uugh the var breakouts are the worst!! honestly i wouldnt worry too much about it "canceling out" the gear. spiro is mostly a DHT blocker and while var is a dht derivative they kinda work on different parts of the body. id take clear skin over a tiny bit of extra muscle any day lol- being jacked with cystic acne is no fun at all.
ive actually run this exact combo before! i was worried about the same thing but honestly i still got super strong and lean on the var while the spiro kept my face from exploding. it took like 3-4 weeks for the skin to settle down though. just make sure you're drinking a ton of water because both of them can dry you out big time.
honestly girl just go for it. there is no point in finishing the cycle if you feel self conscious about your skin the whole time. i've heard from a few people that it doesnt really mess with the anabolic side of things too much. just watch your blood pressure since spiro is technically a diuretic too!
man that sucks. hormonal acne is such a bitch to deal with once it starts. i dont think itll cancel out the var completely but it might slightly dull the edge? probably worth the trade off though if your skin is getting that bad. maybe check with your doc about a topical version if you're really worried about the oral version messing with your cycle!
