Hey everyone, I have an appointment coming up with my doctor's phlebotomist to get my yearly labs done. I want to get as much info as possible, but I'm trying to figure out which markers I can actually ask for without making it obvious that I'm using gear. What’s the move here? I want a solid picture of where I'm at but I don't want to raise any red flags or deal with a bunch of weird questions.
honestly just tell them you’re taking a bunch of new "high performance" supplements and want to make sure your organs are handling it okay. usually they dont even blink if you just ask for a full metabolic panel and lipids.
just ask for the standard stuff plus liver enzymes and kidney function markers. if they ask why just say you've been doing a super high protein diet and hitting the gym harder than usual and want to be safe-works every time man.
be careful asking for total and free test if you are way over the limit because that’s an immediate red flag lol. if you're on a cruise right now it might be fine but otherwise just stick to the health markers like cbc and cholesterol.
i usually just say i have a family history of heart stuff and want a really deep dive on my lipids like ldl and hdl. they usually love it when patients actually care about their health so they wont suspect a thing.
if you really want the full picture without the lecture i’d honestly just go through a private lab like labcorp or quest. it costs a bit more but then you dont have to play mind games with your doctor or worry about stuff going on your permanent record.
definitely get your hematocrit and hemoglobin checked. if those are high just blame it on being dehydrated or living at altitude lol but for real its good to know if your blood is getting like sludge.
just tell them you're feeling a bit sluggish lately and want to check your thyroid and iron levels. throw in the liver stuff too just to "be thorough" since you take vitamins. they usually just click all the boxes and move on.
whatever u do dont act nervous lol. just act like a health nut who reads too many fitness blogs. ask for a cmp and lipids and maybe a urinalysis. as long as you arent asking for a crazy hormone panel they wont suspect you're pinning anything.
