Does anyone know where to go to get an uncapped blood test? I tried talking to my doctor about it, but they told me they only run the capped versions.
I'm out here in Oregon if that makes a difference for local labs. I just need to find a spot that'll actually show my full numbers instead of just cutting off at a certain point. Where are you guys ordering yours from?
man i’m in portland and had the same issue with my gp. just go through PrivateMDLabs or Discounted Labs and pick the "Testosterone Total LC/MS" option. the LC/MS part is the key—it doesn't have an upper limit so it won't cap you at 1500. they just send you to the nearest Labcorp or Quest anyway.
honestly doctors are so annoying about this lol. if u want the real numbers u gotta order it yourself. look for the "Bodybuilder Panel" on PrivateMD, they usually use the high-sensitivity assay that goes way past the standard cap. I’m out in Eugene and never had a problem getting it done at Quest.
check out Any Lab Test Now if there's one near u in oregon. they’re super chill and usually have a "Total & Free" panel that isn't capped. you don't even need a doctor's order, u just walk in and pay. much easier than trying to explain to a regular doc why u need to see 3000+ lol.
i use Marek Health for my labs now. it’s all online, you just pick exactly what you want from the list. make sure u select the one that specifically mentions LC/MS or "no upper limit." they use Labcorp so as long as ur near a major city in OR you'll have plenty of spots to get the draw done.
lol yeah the 1500 cap is the worst. it’s basically just the lab being lazy. just do it yourself through a 3rd party site man. there are codes all over reddit for Ulta Lab Tests or PrivateMD that make it cheaper than going through insurance anyway. plus u get the results in your own portal so no awkward calls from the doc's office.
Yo, if you’re in Oregon, look for a Smart Labs Now location. I used the one in Portland recently. They’re super used to the performance crowd and you can just ask for the "Total LC/MS-MS" test specifically. It’s a bit more than the basic screen, but it’ll give you the actual number even if you’re sitting at 4000+. No awkward questions from a nurse who doesn't get it.
Don't even bother with a regular doctor in OR for this; most of them use the standard OHSU or local hospital lab panels that auto-cap at 1500. I just go through Request A Test online and pick the Labcorp location in Tualatin or Beaverton. Just make sure the description says "Total Testosterone, LC/MS." That "LC/MS" part is the technical secret to getting the uncapped version.
