Does anyone here actually balance a serious bodybuilding routine with having a few drinks on the weekends? I know it’s kind of a taboo subject in the fitness world, but I’m curious if people still relax with a drink or two even while they're on a cycle.
Right now, I usually have at least one night on the beers over the weekend. I make sure to stay completely on top of my cardio and diet during the week, and I definitely avoid heavy drinking whenever I'm on a blast.
I’m just wondering if I’m the only one or if others have managed to make it work without totally killing their progress. What’s your experience been like?
honestly man life is too short to never have a beer lol. i usually stick to tequila and soda if i’m trying to stay tight but a few drinks on a saturday isnt gonna ruin years of work. as long as you arent getting blackout and skipping your sessions the next day you're fine -
ive found that as long as i track the calories it doesnt hurt my progress too much. the real killer for me isnt the alcohol itself its the 2am pizza or taco bell that usually follows it lol. if you can control the "drunk munchies" you're golden.
i used to be super strict and never touched a drop but i got so burnt out. now i'll have a couple glasses of wine with the wife on weekends. just be careful with the oral cycles and drinking - that can be pretty rough on your liver. but on just a cruise? totally fine.
youre definitely not the only one bro. plenty of guys at my gym hit the bar on fridays. just keep an eye on your hydration cuz the pumps the next day will be non-existent if youre dehydrated. i usually drink a gallon of water before bed if i've had a few.
honestly man i still have a few drinks most saturdays. life is too short to be a hermit just cuz you lift lol. as long as you aren't getting blacked out and missing your sessions the next day it really doesnt move the needle that much for me. just watch the calories in the beer
i used to be super strict but now ill have a couple glasses of wine or a scotch on the weekend. the stress relief alone is worth it imo. just stay away from the sugary mixers and maybe drink an extra liter of water before bed- helps a ton with the morning bloat
depends on what you mean by "making it work" lol. if you're trying to step on stage then yeah its a bad idea but for just looking jacked at the beach? i drink every weekend. just dont do it if your liver values are already trashed from a cycle... that's just asking for trouble
i found that sticking to spirits like vodka or gin with soda water is the way to go. beer makes me way too bloated and ruins my digestion for like two days. but yeah you definitely arent the only one man plenty of guys at my gym do the same thing
bro 20k steps and 1700 calories from your other post and you still want to drink?? you're a beast lol. i think as long as you keep it moderate it wont kill your gains but just be careful with the oral AAS and alcohol combo- thats a lot of stress on the organs at once
i stopped drinking entirely when i started taking things more seriously and honestly i dont miss the hangovers. but hey if you can stop at two beers then more power to you. i just find it hard to stop once i start so i stay away haha
