I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately on how everyone is dosing their Reta and what kind of results they’re seeing. From what I can tell, the consensus seems to be that starting low - like around 0.5mg - and slowly working your way up is the way to go, especially since the half-life is somewhere around a week.
The thing that’s throwing me off is seeing some people jump right in at a much higher dose. Is there actually a benefit to doing it that way, or is it just asking for trouble? I’d love to hear what your experience has been and how you decided on your starting point.
definitely start low man. i tried to be a hero and jumped in at 2mg because i thought my tolerance was high from tirz and i spent the next three days literally glued to the bathroom floor lol. the half-life is long so it builds up way faster than you think and once it's in there you just gotta ride out the nausea. slow and steady is definitely the move if you want to actually enjoy your life.
honestly the people jumping in at high doses are usually just impatient or have been on high dose glp-1s for years. even then reta hits different because of the glucagon part so it can make your heart race if you go too fast. i started at 1mg and even that was a bit spicy for the first couple weeks. stick to the low start and just bump it up every 4 weeks if you stop losing weight.
there is zero benefit to starting high other than maybe losing an extra pound of water weight while you're puking your guts out lol. if you start at 0.5 or 1mg you can actually figure out your "sweet spot" without destroying your stomach. plus it saves you a ton of money because you might find you don't even need those massive doses to see results!
i think some people just see the clinical trial doses and think they need to hit the max right away but those people usually end up quitting because the sides are too much. i started at 0.5mg and it was perfect - zero side effects and the food noise just vanished. i'm a big believer in using the lowest dose possible for as long as it keeps working.
the only thing jumping in at a high dose gets you is a one-way ticket to heartburn city lol. the way this stuff lingers in your system is no joke so if you start too high you're stuck feeling like crap for like 8 days straight. i went the slow route and i'm so glad i did because i've had almost no issues while my buddy who started at 4mg had to stop after two weeks because he couldn't stop shaking.
