pretty sure i went and damaged my rotator cuff on one of my shoulders and man im honestly so bummed out about it. sucks because it basically means i have to stop hitting chest shoulders and arms completely while i wait for the damn thing to heal up properly
other then just smashing legs and abs every day what other kind of weight training can i actually do to try and keep my muscle mass? i dont want to just wither away while i wait for my shoulder to get back to normal but i dont want to make the injury worse either- any ideas would be great thanks!
dude that sucks so much. rotator cuff injuries are the absolute worst and they take forever to heal if u rush them. honestly just stick to machines for a bit where the path is fixed. u might be able to do some light bicep curls or tricep pushdowns if u keep your elbows tucked in tight - just listen to your body man.
man i feel your pain... i did mine back in june. i found that i could still do some rows and pulldowns as long as i didnt go too heavy or use a super wide grip. maybe try some "seal rows" so your chest is supported and u dont have to stabilize as much with the shoulder?
honestly bro just lean into the "leg day every day" meme lol. if u can't lift upper body just get some massive quads. u wont wither away in a few weeks i promise. plus when u come back your joints will be fresh as hell.
have u tried using those "bfr" bands? blood flow restriction training is awesome for injuries because u can use like 20% of your normal weight and still get a crazy pump. it might help u keep some size in your arms without putting any real stress on the cuff.
dont forget about the pec deck or some cable flyes if u keep the range of motion short and slow. sometimes u can get a decent chest pump without actually involving the shoulder joint too much. just be super careful and stop if it feels "stumpy" or sharp.
i literally just lived through this lol. i spent like 2 months just doing leg extensions and core. it’s boring as hell but its better than tearing it worse and needing surgery. maybe check out some physical therapy moves on youtube to stay active without hurting it?
id say try some isolation stuff for your arms if u can do it without pain. usually preacher curls or cable pressdowns are okay since your shoulder stays stationary. just stay away from anything overhead - thats usually what pokes the bear. hang in there man!
