is there actually a way to get a smaller waist besides just getting leaner. i can literally see my hip bones and i have abs but my midsection just looks blocky and thick. im honestly cool with where my bodyfat is at right now but i was wondering if stuff like stomach vacuums or those waist trainers actually do anything to pull your waist in. any advice would be great. i dont have a gut from visceral fat or anything like that its just a thick waist naturally. ive never touched AAS either just been using some peptides and basic supplements-im not a bodybuilder or anything just trying to fix the look
honestly if you're already lean and seeing hip bones it might just be your genetics man. some of us just have wider pelvic structures which makes the "blocky" look. stomach vacuums definitely help with core control and keeping your stomach flat but they won't like, move your bones or anything. stick with the vacuums though they're great for that tight look.
skip the waist trainers for sure - they're basically just a gimmick that squeezes your organs and don't do anything permanent. if you want that tapered look you honestly just have to build up your lats and shoulders more. making your upper body wider is the best way to trick the eye into thinking your waist is smaller than it is.
i feel your pain man i've got that "refrigerator" build too lol. one thing that helped me was cutting out heavy oblique work. if you're doing a lot of weighted side bends or heavy rotations it might actually be making those muscles thicker and adding to the blocky look. just food for thought.
stomach vacuums are legit but you gotta be consistent with them every single morning on an empty stomach to see a difference. it strengthens the transverse abdominis which is basically your body's natural corset. it wont take inches off your frame but it'll definitely make your midsection look "tighter" and less flared out.
it's funny how we all want what we don't have - i'd kill to have visible hip bones haha. if you're already doing peptides just make sure you aren't using anything that causes bloat or "distension" because that can make a blocky waist look way worse. but yeah mostly it’s just about building the "v-taper" up top.
check your posture too! sometimes if you have an anterior pelvic tilt it can make your stomach stick out and look wider from the side and front. fixing that and doing the vacuums like everyone else said is probably your best bet if you're already lean.
genetics are a bitch sometimes man. some guys are born with that tiny waist and some of us are built like tanks. since you aren't trying to be a pro bodybuilder just focus on the shoulder-to-waist ratio. once you get some more width in your back the blocky waist won't even be noticeable.
