I think it never really went away, it just went underground for a while. Now social media kinda put it back in the spotlight
The “aesthetic” trend definitely pushed it back up imo. Not everyone wants to be huge anymore, just lean and shredded year round
Also info is way easier to find now than in the 90s. Forums, vids, coaches… people aren’t guessing like before
Could just be algorithm bias too - once you watch a few fitness vids suddenly it feels like everyone is on something lol
I don’t know if usage is higher, but the pressure to look perfect 24/7 is definitely higher now for sure
