so i was on prednisone recently for an allergic reaction and i swear within like two days my skin was just perfectly clear. i didnt have a single pimple the whole time i was taking it and honestly i might have stayed on them a bit longer than i was supposed to just to keep the clear skin going lol. but as soon as i stopped taking it the severe acne came back immediately. now im back on my usual routine of antibiotics and creams and expensive soaps but im just looking like my old self again. i even told my doctor about it but she just said it shouldnt have really done anything for my skin-but i know what i saw and it totally did.

obviously i cant just stay on steroids forever but i wonder if this tells me something about why my skin is so bad? like is there anything else out there that works the same way if steroids are the only thing that actually help?

lol yeah i feel that, steroids clear stuff up crazy fast but obviously not sustainable. sucks that the acne comes back immediately

ngl i’ve heard a lot of people say the same thing—sometimes your skin just responds super well to anti-inflammatories, but long-term steroids aren’t really an option

yeah that’s basically why dermatologists avoid prednisone for acne—it works, but the side effects are way too risky. maybe some other anti-inflammatory stuff could help, like certain topicals or diet tweaks

wow i can totally relate, sometimes it feels like the only thing that actually “works” isn’t something you can use long-term. super frustrating

lol the instant rebound is the worst. some people get similar results from short-term oral antibiotics or retinoids, but nothing hits that fast like prednisone does

yeah I feel you, prednisone does clear things up crazy fast. sucks it’s not something you can just stay on 😬

honestly sometimes the way steroids calm inflammation just works wonders for acne, but finding something safer that does the same thing is the tricky part

I’ve heard some people respond really well to certain oral anti-inflammatories or topical stuff, maybe worth asking your doc about alternatives

lol I’d be tempted too if it actually worked that fast. the rebound acne is the worst part though

it does kinda tell you your acne is super inflammation-driven. maybe there’s a more sustainable way to target that without going full steroids
