Hey, I’m planning on studying abroad in Germany soon and I was wondering what the best way is to bring my test over from the US. I really want to avoid any major hassles or issues at the border.
If anyone has any actual experience with flying overseas with gear and knows the best way to handle it, please let me know. I'd appreciate any tips on how to make the process as smooth as possible. Thanks!
honestly man germany is one of the hardest places to fly into with gear. they dont mess around at the airport. id seriously look into finding a source once you land instead of risking the flight.
make sure you have your actual prescription with you and keep it in the original pharmacy box with your name on it. if its legit script you should be fine but otherwise its risky
id be careful asking this on here lol. but for real, maybe check some local expat groups? they might know how the customs agents actually act at the bigger airports like frankfurt.
ive flown with stuff before but never to germany. i usually just pack it in my checked bag with my toiletries and hope for the best lol. but yeah, europe is different.
u might wanna look into shipping it to your address there instead of carrying it on the plane. less eyes on a random package than a guy walking through security with vials.
r u going for a long time? if its just a semester maybe u can get a doctor there to take over your trt. might be easier than smuggling stuff across the border.
dont try to hide it in a pill bottle or anything stupid like that. if they find it and it looks like you were hiding it, theyll give u way more trouble
man germany is beautiful but the customs are no joke. if i were u id just try to bridge with something else or find a gym hookup when u get there. not worth the stress of a potential ban.
If it’s legit TRT with a prescription, I’d just bring it in original packaging + a doctor’s note. Way less stress than trying to be sneaky
Germany can be pretty strict - I’d check their customs rules ahead of time or ask your clinic. Not worth risking trouble at the airport
When I traveled with meds I kept everything in my carry‑on with paperwork and had zero issues
You might even be able to get it prescribed over there once you arrive. Could be easier long term than hauling a bunch with you
I’d play it safe and go the fully legal route. Border issues abroad sound like an absolute nightmare
