I've got a question for everyone here. Lately I've been seeing people talk about how if you eat like 100g of protein but go really high on the carbs you'll actually build more muscle than doing it the other way around with 100g of carbs and high protein.
What's the consensus on this? Im curious what you guys think is actually better for growth- do we go high protein or high carb? just trying to figure out which way to lean since there's always new info coming out and its hard to keep up sometimes lol
honestly man 100g of protein sounds way too low unless you weigh like 120lbs lol. i think the "high carb" thing works for energy in the gym but you still need the bricks to build the house. i usually aim for at least 1g per pound of bodyweight
its not really an either/or thing. carbs are definitely "protein sparing" which means they stop your body from burning muscle for fuel... but u still need enough protein to actually repair the tissue. id say keep protein moderate and fill the rest with carbs
i tried the high carb low protein thing for a few months and i just got soft lol. i felt strong as hell in the gym because of all the glycogen but the muscle didn't really look "hard" if that makes sense. stick to the basics man
i think people overcomplicate it to sound smart on tiktok. if ur training hard u need both. carbs give u the pump and the energy but protein is literally what the muscle is made of. dont overthink it just eat big and lift heavy
100g protein is barely enough to keep a cat alive lol okay maybe not that bad but for real growth u probably want more. maybe try a middle ground? like 180g protein and then go crazy on the rice and oats
honestly man i think 100g of protein is way too low if your actually training hard. carbs are great for energy and that "full" look but you still need the building blocks to actually repair the muscle. i usually aim for at least 1g per pound of bodyweight and then fill the rest with carbs - thats been the gold standard forever for a reason lol
idk about 100g being enough but i definitely notice i grow better when i push the carbs up. the pumps are way better and i can actually move some real weight. but if i drop the protein too low i start feeling soft pretty quick. maybe try a middle ground and see how your body reacts? everyone is a bit different with how they process macros anyway
carbs are definitely anabolic because of the insulin spike and all that but you cant just skip the protein man. if your on gear you can probably get away with more carbs since your protein synthesis is cranked up but 100g still sounds like playing with fire if your trying to get huge. id stick to high protein and just add the carbs on top if you can handle the calories
lol i feel like there's a new "magic" diet every week on tiktok or whatever. high carb is awesome for performance but protein is literally what muscle is made of. i wouldnt go below 150-200g of protein personally but hey if you try the high carb thing and it works let us know. i just like my steak too much to give it up
it really depends on your goals but for pure size i've always had better luck with high protein and moderate carbs. when i go too high on the carbs i just end up getting bloated and holding a ton of water. 100g of protein sounds like what my sister eats lol i'd probably double that if i were you and see what happens with your gains.
