hey guys so every single guy in my family including the younger ones have zero hair and i can see mine starting to go too which sucks... trying to get ahead of it before it gets worse
i was thinking about doing 1mg finasteride and 2mg minoxidil daily but idk if i should be adding something else or if theres a better protocol out there people are using these days. since im gonna be on this stuff for life i really need to find a reliable source that ships to the eu and isnt gonna bankrupt me lol because price is definitely a big factor if im buying it forever
if you guys have any suggestions or know a solid spot to get it let me know- thanks!
Man the family curse is the worst. I started noticing my crown thinning a few years ago and panicked hard lol. Finasteride is definitely the gold standard but watch out for the side effects- some guys get hit hard with the low libido but others are totally fine. If you're in the EU check out some of the legit online pharmacies in the UK or local generics because they’re way cheaper than the brand name Propecia.
1mg Fin and 2mg Min is a solid starter pack. If you really want to be "extra" maybe look into a dermaroller once a week - it sounds painful but it really helps the minoxidil soak in better. For sources in Europe just look for generic Finasteride (5mg pills and cut them in 4ths) it saves a ton of money over the long run and it's the exact same stuff.
bro i feel you my dad and brothers are all chrome domes too haha. honestly the best advice is to start NOW because it’s way easier to keep what you have than to grow it back later. for cheap sources look at some of the pharma sites that ship from india or turkey they usually have the best prices for bulk orders. just make sure you’re consistent or the gains will disappear as soon as you stop!
man i totally feel for you... that genetic luck is a real grind. finasteride is definitely the gold standard for actually stopping the loss but honestly if everyone in your family went bald early you might want to look into dutasteride too. its a bit stronger and a lot of guys find it works better when the family history is that aggressive. either way just starting now is the best move!
price is a huge factor if your doing this forever lol. for the eu i've seen a lot of people recommend biovea or even trying to get a prescription for the 5mg "proscar" version of finasteride instead of the 1mg stuff. you just cut the 5mg pills into quarters and it saves a massive amount of money over the long haul.
definitely add a ketoconazole shampoo like nizoral to your routine like twice a week. it helps with scalp inflammation and actually has some mild dht blocking properties too. plus if your using minoxidil everyday your scalp might get itchy so the nizoral really helps with that.
2mg minoxidil is a decent start but most people go with 5% topical or 2.5mg-5mg oral. if you choose oral minox just keep an eye on your heart rate and stuff since it can lower your blood pressure. it’s way more convenient than the greasy foam though so i get why people prefer it!
don't panic if you see a "shed" in the first month or two... it's actually a good sign that the old weak hairs are being pushed out for new stronger ones. most people quit right then because they think its making it worse but you gotta push through that phase to see the real results by month 6 or 12.
for sources in the eu check out oxford online pharmacy or even some of the spanish sites like farmacia en linea. spain is usually way cheaper for this stuff than germany or the uk. just make sure your staying consistent because the second you stop all that progress disappears unfortunately- it's a marathon not a sprint!
since your worried about money just remember that generic fin is literally the same molecule as propecia. dont let the marketing trick you into paying 5x the price for a brand name. if you can find a local doc to give you a generic prescription that's usually the cheapest way to handle it legally.
i wish i started at your age man i waited way too long and had to spend a fortune on a transplant later. getting ahead of it with fin/min is literally the best thing you can do right now. just set a reminder on your phone so you never miss a dose and you'll thank yourself in 10 years when you still have a full head of hair!
lol "bankrupt me" is too real but once you find a solid generic source it shouldn't cost more than like 15-20 euro a month. just stay away from those fancy "all-in-one" subscription boxes like hims or keeps because they charge way more for the convenience. buy the ingredients separately and save your cash for something else!
