so i finally got around to trying those nipro thin wall needles everyone keeps hyping up and i gotta say it was a weird experience. i used a 27g 1 1/4 inch for a leg shot today. i’ve been using 25g lately and used 23g before that which didnt really bother me but man i’ve been pinning daily for 16 weeks now and i actually hit some scar tissue the other day. it made this gross crunching sound that was just super gnarly lol so i figured it was time to go thinner.
the first thing i noticed is that the 27g actually bends and that honestly freaks me out a bit. it was so sharp that when it broke the skin it was a really weird sensation-not really painful just not what i expected after reading all the reviews on here. the rest of the way in was smooth but i still have issues with my range of motion. whenever i try to hit vg or glutes i start shaking and cramping up which makes the needle slide in and out like im stabbing myself over and over. because the nipro is so flimsy and bends so easy im definitely not comfortable using them anywhere except my thighs for now.
another thing that kind of sucked was how slow the plunger was moving. it takes way longer to get the oil through a 27g than a 25g and im just not sure if the trade off is worth it. i might stick with them for a bit to see if i get used to it but right now i miss how fast i could get it over with using the bigger gauges. Anyone else think these are too bendy or am i just trippin?
bro the scar tissue crunch is nightmare fuel lol i know EXACTLY that sound and it makes my soul leave my body every time. i switched to 27s too and yeah theyre sharp as hell but the bendiness had me acting paranoid first few pins like i was gonna snap it off in my leg or something stupid. honestly for delts and quads theyre pretty solid once you get used to the slower push but for glutes nahhh my shaky ass could never. sometimes i swear 25g is just that perfect middle ground where you dont feel like youre harpooning yourself but also arent sitting there forever pushing molasses through a straw.
honestly if your shaking and cramping up while hitting glutes then the bendy needle is just gonna make it worse since it has zero backbone. and the slow flow with a 27g is the absolute worst part especially when your just trying to get it over with and move on with your day. maybe try a 25g thin wall instead? it might be that perfect middle ground where it still feels sharp but actually has enough stability so you dont feel like your pinning yourself with a wet noodle. your definitely not tripping though those super thin gauges feel way too flimsy sometimes!
nah you’re not trippin those thin walls can absolutely feel sketchy as hell at first lol. the sharpness is nice til the noodle effect kicks in and suddenly you’re questioning your whole life halfway through setup. i like em for smoother spots but for anything awkward where my body starts doing random shaky nonsense i’d rather take a slightly bigger harpoon and just get it done without feeling like im performing surgery on myself.
i’ve always felt like blasting test super high on a cut is kinda backwards unless you just enjoy making dieting harder than it already is. 250 sounds pretty solid honestly, then maybe increase once you’re actually pushing calories and trying to grow
