I've been wondering if T3 actually has a place in an offseason or a dedicated bulking phase. The idea would be to potentially use it to help the body utilize a higher amount of food and maybe keep insulin sensitivity in check while pushing the calories up.
Does anyone have experience with this, or is it just counterproductive when you're trying to grow? I’m curious if the metabolic boost helps with nutrient partitioning enough to make it worth it, or if it just burns off the surplus you’re trying to build. If you've run it during a growth phase to stay leaner or handle more food, I'd love to hear how it worked out for you.
feels kinda counterproductive to me - T3 just ramps metabolism so you end up chasing calories all day. Hard to grow when you’re basically in burn mode
I tried a low dose during a bulk once and just felt hungry 24/7 but not really any extra gains. Stayed a bit leaner tho, so depends what you want
Not saying it can’t work, but for pure size I think you’re better off without it. Bulking is already hard enough without adding another variable
I tried that once thinking I’d stay lean while eating big but it mostly just made me hungry and kinda flat at the same time… scale barely moved and strength stalled. felt like I was spinning my wheels instead of actually growing 😅
I tried low dose T3 on a bulk once thinking it would let me eat like a machine and stay tight… mostly just ended up sweating all night and being hungry 24 7 😂 scale still went up but strength didn’t move much. Felt like I was burning fuel instead of building with it. Way easier to just keep steps up and do a bit of cardio if you’re getting fluffy tbh.
tried that once thinking it would let me eat like a monster and stay lean… ended up just sweating all day, heart racing, and the scale barely moving felt like I was spinning my wheels burning off the food I was forcing down. personally wouldn’t bother for a bulk
I’d stay lean while force feeding and all it did was make me hot, hungry, and weirdly flat weight barely moved unless I ate like a maniac. felt more like spinning the engine faster than actually building anything
every time i’ve seen someone try t3 in a bulk it just ends up fighting the goal more than helping. yeah you might stay a bit leaner but you’re also kinda burning through calories you actually need to grow. feels like one of those things that sounds smart on paper but in real life just makes progress slower unless everything else is absolutely perfect
insulin sensitivity can usually be kept pretty solid just with training timing, carb quality, and not pushing the surplus too aggressively
