This might sound like a bit of a weird or even uneducated question, but I’ve been curious if there are any actual stories out there of people gaining height with HGH once they're already done with puberty. I remember coming across a post a while back where someone claimed they grew an extra inch after megadosing for a few months. The crazy part was that the guy was 23 and had a totally normal puberty that started around age 11 or 12.
Just to be clear, I’m not planning on trying this myself or experimenting with it. I’m mostly just interested in the science of how HGH works in adults. Does it even have the potential to be effective for height at that stage, or is it basically impossible once your growth plates are done?
i’ve heard those stories too but they’re usually just "internet tall tales" if you know what I mean. science-wise if the plates are closed they're closed. only way to get taller at 23 is those crazy expensive leg breaking surgeries and that sounds like a nightmare
the "science" of it is basically that hgh can only make bones longer if the epiphyseal plates are still open. if he was 23 and started puberty at 11 there is 0% chance he grew an inch of actual bone. maybe his spinal discs just got super hydrated or something?
i actually read a study once that said some people don't fully fuse until their mid 20s but it’s super rare. if that guy actually grew he was just a genetic freak. for 99% of us we just get better sleep and leaner on gh not taller
be careful with the "megadosing" talk because that’s how you end up with a bubble gut and a caveman forehead. hgh is great for recovery and skin but it’s not gonna turn a 5'9 guy into a 6 footer after high school is over haha
lmaoo if hgh made adults taller every pro bodybuilder would be 7 feet tall. instead they just get wider. the logic just doesn't hold up once you look at the guys who actually blast the stuff for years
honestly that guy was probably just lying or had terrible posture before lol. once those growth plates fuse it’s a wrap for height. hgh in adults just makes your organs and hands/feet grow which is NOT the look you want trust me
honestly once those growth plates are fused its pretty much game over for height. most of the time when people say they "grew" an inch at 23 its actually just their posture improving or their spinal discs getting a bit more hydrated/thick from the gh. you aren't actually growing new bone length at that point- just "padding" what you already have lol.
yeah once the epiphyses (growth plates) close up there's nowhere for the long bones to go. hgh in adults mostly just signals for soft tissue repair and organ growth. if you megadose as an adult you're more likely to get "bubbly" guts or wider hands/jaw (acromegaly) rather than getting taller. definitely not worth the risk imo.
i’ve seen those posts too and i’m 99% sure they just measured themselves at a different time of day. you're always taller in the morning anyway! unless that guy had some super rare medical condition where his plates stayed open late- hes probably just full of it or experiencing some serious placebo.
short answer is nope- once you're done with puberty those plates are sealed shut. gh is great for recovery and leaning out but it wont turn a 5'9 guy into a 6 footer after 21. i wish it worked like that though id be the first in line haha
i actually knew a guy who swore he grew half an inch in his mid 20s on a heavy blast. we measured him and he was exactly the same height lol. i think the gh just made his muscles so full that he felt bigger and taller. the mind is a powerful thing man but the x-rays dont lie.
