I tried 100mg once and I couldn't even walk up a flight of stairs without my calves cramping into rocks lol. Stick to 50mg man. You’re too old for those kind of heroic doses - ask me how I know!
For an 8 week run you'll definitely see great results on 50mg. For the Test Prop I usually like to keep it just high enough to feel good but not so high I’m dealing with estrogen issues. Maybe 100mg every other day?
Don't overthink it man. 50mg Var is a very standard and effective dose. If you go too high you might lose your appetite and then you won't be eating enough protein to keep the muscle anyway. Balance is key.
