What's the best offseason compound for a cyclist?

I'm an endurance cyclist looking for some recommendations on what to run during my offseason to gain some strength. Right now I'm on TRT, and in the past, I've experimented with Anavar. The problem was that the pumps were so intense they actually messed with my cardio base, which obviously isn't ideal.

Are there any specific compounds you guys would suggest that help speed up strength gains without trashing my ability to keep up with my cardio? I want to get stronger but I still need to be able to put in the miles without my legs blowing up five minutes into a ride. Thanks!

most endurance guys who are on TRT and still trying to build strength usually lean more toward slow, steady progress rather than anything that causes that sudden “pumped out of nowhere” feeling you got with anavar. even then, it’s less about finding a magic compound and more about avoiding the ones that interfere with oxygen efficiency and long-duration output.

honestly for cycling id stay far away from anything that gives nasty back or calf pumps because that’ll ruin your rides fast. low dose primo always seemed way more manageable for me than var, slower strength for sure but way less of that crippling pump garbage. some guys do okay with a little mast too if hair isn’t an issue, but keeping hematocrit in check is probably just as important as whatever compound you pick when cardio actually matters.

yeah var is brutal for that, the leg pumps on long rides can feel like concrete by minute 20 so I get why you ditched it. for endurance guys I’ve seen way better luck just keeping test steady and letting training do most of the strength work, maybe a small amount of primo in offseason if anything but even then it’s more slow build strength not that fast “feel it immediately” stuff. anything that dries you out or spikes pumps is usually gonna mess with mileage no matter how “mild” people claim it is.

for endurance stuff honestly anything that keeps you strong without turning everything into a massive pump is usually what people end up looking for, but in my experience even “milder” compounds can still mess with that leg endurance feeling more than expected. sounds like you’re already pretty dialed in so it might just be about finding that balance instead of chasing something totally new

Since you're on a cruise dose, adding a little Masteron can act like a "hardening" agent. It binds to SHBG, making your TRT more effective, and gives you a neurological strength boost (CNS drive) without any water retention or pumps. It’s great for feeling "tight" and strong on the bike without adding useless weight.
