whats up guys what does everyone aim for when your on a blast as far as a surplus goes - like 500 over maintenance or more like a thousand im on a blast right now and honestly im kinda torn on how much to eat because ive been doing 750 but i feel like im starting to look a bit too fluffy lately so im just looking to see what you guys do and what works best for you - appreciate the feedback

on blasts i personally dont like pushing the surplus too crazy anymore. early on i used to go like 800 to 1000 over and yeah i got big but i also got fluffy fast and then had to spend ages cleaning it up after. these days i try keep it just enough that strength is going up steady and waist isnt blowing out

750 is a decent spot but everyone is different bro. I usually start at 500 and only bump it up if my strength stalls out. If you’re already feeling too fluffy just trim it back to 400 and see if you tighten up. Better to grow lean than have to do a miserable 16 week cut.

i’ve done both and honestly the higher surplus always sounded better on paper than it looked in the mirror lol. anything past like a few hundred over maintenance just started feeling like i was gaining more fluff than actual usable size for me, but i know some guys swear they grow way better pushing it harder

i’ve tried both ends of that and anything around 700–1000 over maintenance just made me feel like i was gaining size but also hiding it under fluff way faster than i expected. i think the sweet spot is different for everyone but once you start noticing you look softer it’s usually a sign you’ve already pushed it a bit too far for your own body
