hey guys so im trying to get some info for my wife and i hope im in the right place for this but she wants to try sema and i finally got a 4mg bottle for her. shes planning to start at .25mg and im trying to figure out the best way to do the math considering potential sides and all that. how much bac water should i use to reconstitute? i was thinking maybe 4ml? and would that make 2.5 units the right dose or am i totally off there-i just want to make sure i dont mess up the concentration.
also for the needles would 29g .5in insulin pins be fine or should i go with the shorter 5/16in ones? any help would be huge honestly just want to make sure i have this right before she starts!
Honestly props for double checking instead of winging it - dosing math is where people mess up most
You’re not off at all, that’s actually a pretty common way people mix it. Just double check your syringe markings so you don’t misread units
29g insulin pins are totally fine, that’s what most people use… the shorter ones are just a bit more comfy if she’s lean. biggest tip is triple check the math before the first shot, once you dial it in it’s super easy but that first mix always feels sketchy 😅
Man, double check that math before you pin her. If you put 2ml of bac water into a 4mg bottle, then 12.5 units on a standard insulin syringe is your .25mg dose. If you go with 4ml of water like you planned, then 25 units is the .25mg dose. Doing 2.5 units would be a tiny drop and basically impossible to measure accurately. Stick to 2ml or 4ml of water so the math stays simple and you don't accidentally send her into a 48 hour puke fest.
4ml makes the math super easy honestly, that’s what I did for my partner too. Just triple check the syringe markings because “units” trips people up more than the mixing itself. And yeah the tiny insulin pins are totally fine, these shots are shallow anyway so shorter is usually more comfy 👍
4ml makes the math pretty easy yeah, tiny dose on the syringe though so just double check the markings in good light those 29g pins are totally fine for subq, shorter ones just feel a bit less intimidating. biggest thing is go slow cause the nausea can sneak up hard the first weeks
yeah 4ml makes it super easy to work with, that’s how i’d do it too. just double check your math before pinning cause those tiny doses can get confusing fast lol. and 29g 5/16 is way nicer imo way less awkward to use than the longer ones especially for subq stuff. just take it slow first couple weeks and see how she reacts 👍
