I really need to lose some weight and get back on track. I recently switched jobs and my new role has me sitting at a desk all day, which is a huge change from the physical labor I used to do. It's definitely taking a toll on my body.

I’m looking for that extra bit of motivation or a push to help me get over the hump so I can start hitting the gym consistently again. Does anyone have any good suggestions or advice for someone making this kind of transition? I'd love to hear what worked for you guys.

going from manual labor to a desk job is a total trap for the waistline man i feel you! the biggest thing for me was just packing my gym bag the night before and putting it in the car so i literally had no excuse to go home first. if i sit on that couch after work it's over lol.

honestly the desk life is soul sucking if you don't move. i started setting an alarm every hour just to stand up and do some air squats or walk around the building. it sounds dumb but it keeps your metabolism from falling asleep and makes you feel way less like a zombie by 5pm!

you're gonna have to watch your food way closer now too bro. i made the mistake of eating the same amount i did when i was doing construction while sitting at a desk and i put on 15lbs in like two months lol. definitely try to find a gym that’s right next to your office if you can!

maybe try some low dose reta or tirz? it really helps with that "desk snack" urge when you're bored at work. i found that half my weight gain at my office job was just eating because i was stuck at a screen all day. it definitely gives you that extra push to stay on track.

the transition is definitely rough on the back too. make sure you're getting some good stretching in because going from moving all day to sitting will make you feel like an old man fast. welcome to the corporate grind man you got this!

i actually got a standing desk and it was a total game changer for my energy levels. i still hit the gym after but i don't feel like a total slug by the end of the day. congrats on the new job though even if it's messing with your routine!

start small man dont try to go 6 days a week right away or youll burn out. even just 30 mins 3 times a week is a win when you're adjusting to a new schedule. once the habit is back the motivation usually follows.

i feel this so hard. i went from warehouse work to IT and the weight just piled on lol. i started doing fasted cardio in the morning because i knew i'd be too tired after work. it sucks waking up early but it definitely gets the job done!

you should definitely look into some of the glps if you need that extra "oomph" to get started. they really help with the transition period while you're figuring out your new calorie needs. just a thought since you asked for a push!

dont beat yourself up too much about it. shifting careers is stressful enough without stressing over the gym too. maybe just try going for a long walk during your lunch break to get the blood flowing?

honestly find a workout buddy at the new job! it makes it way easier to go if you have someone else holding you accountable. plus it’s a good way to make friends in a new environment.

the "desk spread" is real lol. i had to stop bringing snacks to my desk entirely because id just mindlessly eat while typing. stay hydrated man- sometimes when you think you're hungry at work you're actually just bored or thirsty.

pre workout is your best friend now lol. keep a tub at your desk and take a scoop 20 mins before you leave the office so you're forced to hit the gym on the way home!
