Most of us in this hobby deal with low HDL at some point because of the gear, but I'm trying to figure out how much of a crisis that realistically is. If you manage to keep your LDL low enough, does the HDL number even carry that much weight?

I feel like we focus on it a ton, but I'm curious if we should be placing so much importance on this one specific marker if everything else looks okay. Is a low reading a total deal-breaker, or is it just something we've been conditioned to stress about more than we need to?

plus on cycle it’s rarely just low hdl alone, it’s low hdl + higher inflammation + thicker blood + everything stacking up. one marker might not kill you but all of them together is where it gets sketchy.

i don’t think it’s instant panic mode but i definitely wouldn’t brush it off either, especially if it stays low for a long time. feels like one of those “you won’t notice until way later” kind of problems.

like yeah if ldl is dialed in that helps a lot, but when hdl is super low it usually means your system isn’t handling things great overall. not instant doom or anything but not something i’d just shrug off either.

ldl being low definitely helps a lot, but low hdl usually doesn’t show up alone in real life, there’s usually other stuff creeping with it like inflammation or worse recovery too. that’s where it starts mattering more.
