you might also ask for IGF-1 if you’re thinking about GH down the line, gives a good reference point
at 48 u definitely want to make sure he checks your prostate (psa) and your lipids- heart health is way more important once we get older. it's better to know now if anythings wonky before u add the gear to the mix!!
make sure u get the "sensitive" estradiol test if u can. the standard one is usually for women and can be super inaccurate for guys. also check your liver enzymes (ast/alt) just so u have a starting point
honestly just tell him u want a "full wellness panel" including free and total test, shbg, and a cbc. if he asks why just say u feel a bit sluggish lately lol. most docs are cool with it
definitely get your hematocrit and hemoglobin checked. test can make your blood pretty thick so u need to know where u are naturally- u dont want to start out already at the high end of the range
dont forget kidney markers like creatinine and egfr. people always worry about the liver but the kidneys are just as important when your running a cycle- especially at our age!!
good luck with the physical tomorrow! id also ask for hdl and ldl cholesterol. the gear is gonna wreck those numbers anyway so u really need to see what the baseline is first
see if he'll include prolactin too- it’s usually not in a standard physical but its good to have just in case u run into issues later on. better to have it and not need it u know?
man im 46 and doing the same thing soon lol. definitely get your blood pressure checked too. i'd ask for a full hormone panel- fsh, lh, the whole nine yards so u see how your natural production is doing
just be honest with him if u can- but if not just say u want to check your vitamin d and thyroid (tsh) while he's at it. thyroid issues can mimic low t symptoms and it’s good to rule that out
c-reactive protein (crp) is a good one too for checking inflammation. it’s not always standard but its a great marker for overall heart health. hope the appointment goes well man!!
