hey so a friend of mine is looking to start tirzepatide pretty soon and i was wondering if you guys think she should get some bloodwork done first? like just to have a baseline i guess. was thinking maybe a full blood count, iron, and tsh but is there anything else she should check for-im not really sure what the standard is here.

also for those of you already on it did you actually notice any big changes in your bloods after you started tirzepatide? just want to make sure she has her bases covered before she jumps in.

definitely tell her to get a full panel done first. having a baseline is so helpful because if she starts feeling weird later on she'll actually know if its the meds or if she was already low on something like b12 or iron. better safe than sorry!

I did CBC, CMP, A1C, lipids, and TSH before starting. Nothing crazy changed except my glucose numbers got way better.

Not mandatory but definitely nice to have. My doc mostly cared about A1C and liver/kidney stuff before putting me on it.

Better to over-prepare than guess later. Plus if she ends up feeling amazing, it’s cool to actually see the improvement on paper too

yeah getting baseline labs is smart, especially glucose, A1c, kidney and liver panels too. I did mine before starting tirz and mostly everything stayed the same, just my fasting sugar dropped a bit. better to have the numbers so you can see what changes than fly blind 😅

Absolutely get the bloodwork done. Having a baseline is huge because if she starts feeling like death three weeks in, you’ll actually know if it’s the meds or if her iron was already trashed. Along with the CBC and TSH, she definitely needs to check her HbA1c and fasting insulin—that’s the real gold mine for seeing how Tirz is actually fixing her metabolism over time.

Yeah I’d definitely get a baseline first—makes it way easier to see if anything weird pops up. I’d add fasting glucose, A1c, liver enzymes, and kidney function to your list just to be safe. Personally, I didn’t notice huge changes at first, but having the numbers there made me feel way more in control.

Bloodwork is a total must-send if she wants to do this right. Tell her to definitely add HbA1c and fasting insulin to that list—Tirz works its magic on blood sugar, so knowing her starting point is huge for tracking metabolic health. Also, she should definitely check her Lipid Panel and Liver Enzymes (ALT/AST). A lot of people find that their "bad" cholesterol and liver inflammation drop like a rock once they get a few months into the Tirz journey, and having those "before" numbers is super motivating.

yeah baseline labs are a smart move, way easier to see what actually changed later instead of guessing. id prob add fasting glucose or a1c and lipids too just cause that’s kinda where these meds shine. for me my sugar numbers got way better after a couple months and cholesterol improved a bit too, nothing crazy but def noticeable. just tell her not to overthink it and start low 👍
